This blog has been kicking around in my head for awhile — something that needed to be done, but not something there was ever time to do. But now I will do my best to cover this subject, since no one in the Times Union management is addressing problems that readers identify. And if anyone else wants to take the blog over, I will be happy to step aside.
The key issue that has caught my attention in the past year is the way the TU censors blog comments that do not violate any TU policies or rules. Some of the individual bloggers at the TU censor comments, like Assemblyman Jim Tedisco and Mayor Jerry Jennings. Both failed to post comments because they want to have the last word or don’t want to debate a topic. So why are they blogging?
But today it got my attention when one of the blogs with many authors — the “Albany” blog — engaged in the same behavior, failing to post comments that do not violate any rules. I’ll post some more about that soon.
And then I couldn’t help noticing that the Capitol Confidential blog is trying to leak a salacious rumor about Gov. Paterson that the TU news division is not printing and that the state police denied being involved in. Interesting that they can post that. Aren’t there policies?
There will be more to say in the future. Have a good weekend!
